Bruce Schneier: The security mirage

http://www.ted.com/talks/bruce_schneier.html

A brief summary:

Computer security expert Bruce Schneier talks about how we approach security. Our sense of threat has evolved in a different environment to what we live in today and Schneier says that it causes problems in how we assess threats and how we try to mitigate those threats. Our cognitive biases also add to our unrealistic views of security. What we feel as secure may not necessarily be secure in reality. For example, the familiar is less dangerous than the unfamiliar. We feel that driving a car is safer than traveling by air, while data suggests otherwise. A result of this unrealistic sense of threat is what Schneier calls as security theater.
