Evangelical Christians are behind ugly anti-homosexuality bill in Uganda
#1
This is the first post here on Christianity. It seems that we have been letting it get off easy without much scrutiny. Although Christianity is a minority belief system in India (except in certain pockets of the country), it deserves attention because of its international influence. Christianity still remains the most delusional religion in the world in terms of sheer numbers, although Islam is fast catching up. How dangerous Christian beliefs are depends mostly on which part of the world we are talking about. For example, in Uganda Evangelical Christians influenced by Evangelical preachers from the US and locally have managed to create a Christian-backed push towards making homosexuality a crime punishable by death!

This is such a shame!

Back in the Bush days, funding for abortions in Africa was stopped because it wasn't in line with the Christian values. This impacted the fight against AIDS.

Christianity has historically resulted in more human suffering than any of the other religions. I'll defend that.

I agree with that, Ajita. Historically, it has been Christianity. Currently, it is Islam globally, and Hinduism in India.

I remember watching a video where these African Christian missionaries BURNED TO DEAD 3 elderly people on suspicion of being practicing witches/being involved in some sort of witchcraft. I literally saw 3 human beings being burned alive. I had never watched such a video before, and even though I consider myself a very hard person, I just stopped the video and bawled my eyes out. I couldn't believe what I saw. And I still can't believe that people think witchcraft is fucking REAL!
I want to rip things apart when people say Christianity is a peaceful religion. I can't imagine what horrors are taking place in Africa right this very minute.
And when people tell me to pray before exams, or pray for things, I always reply, "Why pray to God who would give you good grades but would forget Africa."

Can i have that link,as that can almost never happen smile
I am a Proj manager in a s/w firm and also have been involved in missionary activities in cambodia and Africa....
There is alot of wich craft in Arica..and we have urged them to burn their wichcraft stuff off....
but havent burned people smile

There are instances were wiches are burned their, but by the locals ,not missionaries smile
Missionaries cannot do it dear...you will know it if u visit that place once ...

As a missionary i do the following activities there
1.Establish good schools
2.Help the rape victims (ranging from 1 year old to 70 year old) to come back to life
3.Introduce them to medicine and tune them out of wich craft practices.
..there are many more...........
4.Introduce them to the Love of God,and urge them to love each other...
and just one more thing ..... the money is not funded by US or britan.....
its from our pocket....
and for each travel....it cost us 5 to 6 lakhs to do this missionary work...................

Note:I do not deny that there are quaks who disguise as missionaries and try to loot people...
I must agree that there are.Just like any other system, there is a percentage of such sickos ..
But a thousand quaks dosent proove that the real dosent exist.

Take care.
God bless

I dont want to push this point toomuch as...there is no excuse for innocent lifes being shed in the name of relegion. But i dont want you to highlight that atheism have resulted as much killings as religious fanatics did.

Anybody who knows anything about history will know to add up deaths under Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot. The total probably rivals that of the total number of human beings who lived before 1700! (I've seen the math. Dispute the year if one wishes but the exponential numbers suggest that deaths in ancient times were tiny in comparison to death numbers in modern times. Technology for killing people is far more lethal in modern times!)
