List of Websites on Science, Atheism and Freethought
Hi. Normally we would like to put this under a "websites" section rather than under "books", but we can shift it later. It would be good to have a long list of credible websites on science, atheism and freethought. I would love if this list had only those sites that were the best in business. If the other admins of the Nirmukta network agree, we could later compile this list and put it under a "Suggest sites" section on so that atheists or on-the-fence atheists can benefit.

Also, to make it easier to compile later, let us keep numbering our links. I'm posting three sites for the moment, please add to the list starting #4. Also, please leave a short description about the site.

1. Nirmukta The standard when it comes to the freethought movement in India.

2. Friendly Atheist Hemant Mehta chronicles the secular movement in the USA, and offers (friendly) advice to atheists everywhere.

3. Pharyngula American biology professor PZ Myres delves into the non-scientific as well as scientific, all while refuting intelligent design and creationism.

4. Bad Astronomy . Phil Plait's blog on astronomy and skepticism.
5. Why Evolution Is True . Another blog refuting creationism.
6. Science Based Medicine . Deals with the woo that goes by the name of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.

7. Respectful Insolence Self-described as the miscellaneous ramblings of a surgeon/scientist on medicine, quackery, science, pseudoscience, history, and pseudohistory.
#4 Fighting ignorance since 1973
I would have also preferred if this could be shifted to a separate section under websites as opposed to books. Anyways here is my list:

one of my favorites with respect to arguments regarding atheism/God. For example very often well constructed arguments have already been written on these topics and this site is devoted to making an easily accessible archive of counter-apologetics responses. They list the popular reasons people give and appropriate counter arguments. For example "50 reasons to believe in God" article is one of their best and being a wiki it is easily accessible and one can always add to it.

similar one for evolution. The "Ken Ham"ists keep dishing out pseudoscientific jargon that sometimes its hard to keep up with counter responses.

I really like these wiki-styled counter-response archiving since its so easily accessible. Hope someone expands on their article on homosexuality.

a good place for atheist memes. However, not all of the content is mature.

btw has anyone access to "Freethought Resource Guide: A Directory of Information, Art, Organizations & Internet Sites Related to Secular Humanism, Skepticism, Atheism, & Agnosticism???"
