Stop Time!
Have a read through this, and do the little experiment.

Buried underneath a ton of pseudoscientific jargon, the thing actually works. The second hand in the clock actually does seem to come to a stop. I tried it with an ordinary clock with a smooth seconds hand and it worked too. Now obviously time doesn't really stop and this is nothing more than an illusion and there are ways to prove it, but I just felt this shows how a simple natural phenomenon can be hijacked to perpetuate nonsense. Woo like this one are especially dangerous, IMO, as it involves the participant and makes them feel like they've actually done something. All the more reason to distrust anecdotal evidence.
It didn't work with me. I wonder why. :S
Looks like you aren't divinely blessed like the rest of us sid smile.

Here's the thing explained.
