Some have raised outrageous sectarian demands like “ the money should be used only for the benefit of Hindus as the temple belongs to Hindus.” The kings are praised for their honesty in not touching the property of the” God”. The kings of Travancore have in fact failed in their duty by keeping such a huge wealth idle. Obviously, the wealth must have been acquired largely through taxes. It belongs to the state. The country can ill afford to keep such a huge wealth idle when more than one third of her population live in poverty. The wealth should be brought into circulation for the benefit of the poor.
