What barbaric behavior by these Islamic fundamentalists.
Here is an interesting article I read on the rising Islamic fundamentalism in Kerala. It is a long and well-researched article.
This passage caught my eye:
Quote:"The attack on Professor Joseph is not without irony. He was attacked by a group of Muslims for insulting their faith. And when he was in hospital, another group of Muslims came forward to donate blood for him."
And that, my friends, is how religions have got to be the powerful group identities they are today.

Shocking! Thanks for the detailed post.
@Ajita, this reminds me of a quote by Jon Stewart: "Religion. Giving solace to a world torn apart by religion".

i think, this is also the part of their planning. I doubt that the attackers and blood donors are of the same group. this has been done to divert the attention of the authorities from the culprits.

Here is another update about the case. Another person arrested. It is to be seen how the courts punish these individuals. Content below:
Quote:One more arrested in Professor assault case
The Special Investigation Team probing the assault made on T.J. Joseph, Professor of Malayalam, Newman College, Thodupuzha, arrested one more person.
With the arrest of Pareed of Vazhakulam, the police have arrested five out of seven persons involved in the incident that occurred on July 4.
The Professor was stopped when he was returning from church and his right palm hacked off by the group, who were activists of the Popular Front of India (PFI), allegedly in protest against some references in the question paper prepared by him. Some religious groups had been alleging that the references amounted to blasphemy.
The team under P.N. Unniraja, Superintendent of Police, arrested Pareed from Mangalore on Thursday night. The team had been tracking his movement and this led to the arrest. He is believed to have driven the vehicle in which the group had traveled.
It is learnt that Pareed moved to Kollam after the assault and had been hiding in different places since then. The police had arrested more than twenty others on charges of conspiracy and abetting the crime.

With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

I do not believe in God, But those who believe in God must not be insulted, Because they are poor in thinking process. All attack must be blamed.
